Descripción del artículo del vendedor

Picturesque Bermuda: Bushell's Handbook, John J. Bushell â" 28th Edition Publication: Devonshire, Bermuda, John J. Bushell, 1937 Formatting: 8vo, original printed wrappers with advertising leaves; 30-page pictorial insert. Condition Report: Good. The book is bound in the publisher's original green paper wrappers with overlapping yapp edges, a format characteristically prone to handling wear. As expected with this fragile construction, the overhanging extremities exhibit moderate chipping, creasing, and minor closed tears, particularly along the spine ends and corners. The spine itself remains solid though lightly rubbed, with the black and red typography still highly legible. Internally, the binding remains secure, and the text block is relatively tight. The pages show only mild age-toning to the margins, remaining bright and largely free of foxing. A standard previous ownership signature is present to the front preliminary leaf in ink, but the pages are otherwise clean and free from intrusive markings. A respectable, intact copy of a delicate survival. Catalogue Note: The 28th edition of Picturesque Bermuda was updated for the 1937 tourist season, serving as both a comprehensive guidebook and a historical snapshot of pre-WWII Bermuda. The handbook features a 30-page pictorial section and three large-scale road maps, supplemented by charming local advertisements for businesses such as LiLi Bermuda perfumes and Astwood Dickinson Co. jewellers. While earlier editions appear occasionally, complete late-1930s editions in their original delicate yapp wrappers are increasingly uncommon on the open market, particularly with the maps and pictorial inserts intact. This edition showcases the island's burgeoning status as a premier luxury travel destination for interwar cruise passengers. First published at the turn of the twentieth century, Bushell's Handbook: Picturesque Bermuda served as the definitive guide for visitors to the Somers Islands. This comprehensive 1937 edition offers an immersive glimpse into Bermuda's pre-war Golden Age of tourism, providing visitors with detailed road maps, historical anecdotes, and a wealth of local business directories. From the famous luxury cruises to exotic local perfumes and historic landmarks, this guidebook encapsulates the unique charm of the 'Land that is different,' making it a delightful historical reference for travel enthusiasts and collectors of Bermudiana alike.…
