Descripción del artículo del vendedor

Oblong quarto measuring 14" x 9.5". String-tied textured black leather with a cooper relief of "David's Tower" decorating the front board. Contains 118 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 1.75" x 2.5" and 3" x 4.5" with captions. Near fine album with edgewear with near fine photographs. A photo album kept by an American soldier stationed in Morocco during World War II. The photos are dated around 1944 and show scenes of market places, French Army barracks, and local people including one photo captioned, "Arab nursemaid." He also photographs leisure time with other soldiers including one series of a soldier named Jim flirting with a French girl on a beach. Following this is a section which reads, "these snaps were taken on our furlough in Agadir, Fr. Morocco, a small seaport town 250 miles south of Casablanca. We spent a week here in the summer of '44." These photos show "an Arab headed into town," "two little French girls" who wanted their photo taken, and a local "Arab grocery store." Another section shows the men posed around B-17 waiting to take off for their next post. The town they went to is featured in a section which reads, "these shots were taken at a small Arab town, called Taraudant, about 65 miles inland from Agadir. It is an old walled city. The day we were there the temperature was about 140 degrees." Here they visited a French orphanage and photographed "Arab children" with one photo that reads, "Arab girls wearing a virgin wool rug." They convoyed through the desert to a town called Mazagan, "50 miles from Casablanca" and later visited a mission in the area. The final page shows a snapshot from a USO troop and three photos of P.O.W.s assigned to the soldier compiler, two Italians and a Russian. An interesting collection of war photography from the North African theater.…
