Descripción del artículo del vendedor

Apart from an ownership signature on the title page and very minor loss to its tail, a clean, unmarked and solid copy. "Francis Nathan Peloubet (1831-March 27, 1920) decided the most strategic thing he could do as a pastor was to train Sunday School teachers how to teach the Bible to their students well. So he travelled and lectured, wrote books and articles about it, and networked inter-denominationally to support the Sunday School movement any way he could. But mostly he published Notes: Peloubet’s Select Notes on the International Lessons. Sometime in the 1870s, an international coalition of Protestant churches established a committee to publish a standard lesson schedule that all the churches could follow. These International Standard Sunday School Lessons meant that all over the English-speaking world, Sunday School teachers who were thinking about next week’s lesson were all thinking about the same passage of Scripture at the same time, and wondering how to teach it to children of different ages. Many authors and publishers rushed to help this vast new market of Bible students, but it was F. N. Peloubet who established his notes as the most trustworthy and useful notes. Scriptorium’s own R. A. Torrey published his own long-running, very successful set of helps as well, but Peloubet stayed perched at the top of the market. Peloubet and his wife kept publishing those notes right up until his death, running to about 45 annual volumes. After he died, they kept going, edited for many years by Wilbur M. Smith of Moody and Fuller Seminary fame." (Fred Sanders - The Scriptorium Daily).

Descripción de la tienda

Good Reading was established in 1991. In early 2013, I downsized from a shop which spanned a block and two stories to a largish house which resembles a rabbit warren. There are at approximately 40,000 titles, including over 10,000 books in Italian, French, German, Modern Greek, Latin and classical Greek., most of which have not yet been catalogued. I also have a very large Theology section, and a substantial cookery and Australian History one. Please contact me if there is a specific title you are chasing as it may be languishing on the shelf uncatalogued. All enquiries will be answered promptly, books will be mailed out swaddled like Russian babies, and all faults honestly described. I do a full refund for any book sporting nasty surprises.
