Neuware - 'Pastors, Politicians, Pacifists' offers a critical and detailed examination of the complex intersection between religious leadership, political influence, and anti-war movements in early 20th-century America. Authors Le Roy F. Smith and E. B. Johns investigate how the clergy and various pacifist organizations began to exert significant pressure on national policy and defense strategies following the First World War.The work provides a thorough analysis of the Social Gospel movement and its role in reshaping the American political landscape. By exploring the tensions between traditional patriotic duties and emerging internationalist ideologies, the book highlights the internal debates within religious denominations regarding their involvement in secular governance. Through an evaluation of contemporary figures and institutions, the authors trace the evolution of religious activism and its consequences for national security and public discourse. As a significant historical study of the 1920s, 'Pastors, Politicians, Pacifists' serves as an essential resource for understanding the roots of modern political-religious debates. It emphasizes the ideological shifts that occurred as faith-based groups sought to translate moral convictions into legislative action, making it a valuable work for scholars of American history, political science, and theology. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible.
