She woke up in a hospital with stitches above her eye, a missing year, and no explanation.
The doctors called it trauma. Charlotte Hayes called it terrifying. A head injury, they said. Memory loss, they said. Return to work, to therapy, to the unfamiliar routines of a life she no longer recognizes - and slowly, everything would come back.
It hasn't.
Instead there are strangers who know her intimately. Habits she doesn't recognize as her own. A tube of red lipstick she doesn't remember buying. A storage unit she didn't know she was renting. A journal filled with her handwriting - and someone else's voice.
The deeper Charlotte searches, the more unsettling the fragments become. Places that stir emotion without explanation. Relationships that feel chosen by someone else. Choices she can't remember making.
And now women are dying along the Potomac waterfront. Women who look like her. Women who were, apparently, in her way.
Charlotte is trying to remember who she was.
She's beginning to fear she already knows.
Both of Her is a psychological thriller about identity, memory, and the cost of the choices we cannot remember making.
