Paperback. ARE YOU OVERREACTING AND OVERTHINKING?A Warm, Practical Guide to Calming Your Emotions and Protecting the People You LoveYou Are Not Too Much - You're Just OverloadedIf you're reading this after snapping at someone you love over something small, or lying awake replaying a conversation for the fourth time tonight, I want to say something to you before we go any further: you are not too sensitive, too dramatic, or too much. You are a person whose emotional alarm system has been working overtime for a long time, and it is tired, and it is doing its best with the tools it has. This book is here to help you build better ones.Overreacting and overthinking feel like opposite problems - one too loud, one too quiet - but they usually come from the exact same place: a nervous system that has learned, somewhere along the way, that it needs to stay on high alert to keep you safe in your closest relationships. Maybe you grew up in a home where conflict was frightening or unpredictable. Maybe a past relationship taught you that small things could turn into big ruptures without warning. Maybe you're simply exhausted, stretched thin across work and family, with less patience left than you wish you had. Whatever the cause, the pattern is the same: a feeling arrives, and it arrives too big, too fast, or it refuses to leave your mind long after the moment has passed. This item is printed on demand. ARE YOU OVERREACTING AND OVERTHINKING?
A Warm, Practical Guide to Calming Your Emotions and Protecting the People You Love
You Are Not Too Much — You're Just Overloaded
If you're reading this after snapping at someone you love over something small, or lying awake replaying a conversation for the fourth time tonight, I want to say something to you before we go any further: you are not too sensitive, too dramatic, or too much. You are a person whose emotional alarm system has been working overtime for a long time, and it is tired, and it is doing its best with the tools it has. This book is here to help you build better ones.
Overreacting and overthinking feel like opposite problems — one too loud, one too quiet — but they usually come from the exact same place: a nervous system that has learned, somewhere along the way, that it needs to stay on high alert to keep you safe in your closest relationships.
