Neuware - 'Once in the Saddle and Paso Por Aqui' is a classic collection of Western fiction by Eugene Manlove Rhodes, a writer celebrated for his authentic portrayal of the American frontier. The volume features two of Rhodes' most compelling narratives, set against the rugged and evocative landscape of the New Mexico territory. In 'Paso Por Aqui', readers encounter Ross McEwen, an outlaw who finds himself pursued by a relentless posse after a daring robbery. As he flees across the scorching desert, McEwen faces a profound moral dilemma when he encounters a family stricken by illness. His choice between freedom and compassion forms the heart of this legendary tale, often regarded as one of the finest stories in Western literature. 'Once in the Saddle' further showcases Rhodes' mastery of the genre, blending suspenseful action with a deep understanding of the cowboy's code of honor and the harsh realities of life in the Old West.Characterized by realistic dialogue and a vivid sense of place, these stories move beyond simple tropes to explore themes of redemption, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of the frontier. Rhodes, drawing from his own experiences as a working cowboy, provides a nuanced look at the men and women who shaped the American West. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible.
