Descripción del artículo del vendedor

The first London edition of Richard Wellesley's first hand notes of the Marhatta war, in which he fought and led Britain to victory. Richard Wellesley fought in the Marhatta War in 1803, and led the British to victory against the Marhatta Empire. This collection of notes are from his first hand observations during the war, published shortly after in 1804. Prior to this, Wellesley had been in both the Irish and English House of Commons, becoming the Lord of the Treasury to William Pitt the Younger in 1984. In 1793 he was appointed as a member of the Board of Control of Indian Affairs, and soon after in 1797 we became the Governor-General of India. His personal life was controversial, cohabiting with the French actress Hyacinthe-Gabrielle Roland, having five children with her before they finally married in 1794. He also had at least two other illegitimate children by teenage mistresses, and through one his daughter"s, Anne, second marriages to Lord Charles Bentinck, Wellesley is the great-great-great grandfather to Queen Elizabeth II. Collated, complete with four folding plates of military plans, and in-text tables of military information. In a half calf binding with marbled paper boards. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the extremities, with some rubbing to the spine, mostly to the head and tail. Minor bumping to the leather to the joints of each board. Mark to the bottom edge, but doesn"t affect pages. Hinges are slightly strained but remain firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with just the odd spot and handling mark throughout. Chip to the bottom edge of page forty-nine/fifty, however doesn"t affect the text. Very Good Indeed.…
