The book provides a comprehensive account of the linkages between education, sustainable development, and nation-building from an interdisciplinary perspective. It examines various theories of education and sustainable development and critically explores the origin, evolution, and contours of education in India through the lens of the current policy debates around the Indian educational system. Manish K. Verma is Dean of the Ambedkar School of Social Sciences and of the School of Vocational & Futuristic Studies. He is Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar (Central) University, Lucknow, India, and is Council Member, Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Education, Government of India.
