We never really know how much time we have. Our end may come suddenly or be long and drawn out. Most of us spend that time in a straight line, going from point “A” to point “B” simply because it’s easier to get there. I often think that taking the path of least resistance makes us mundane and bored. Eccentricity has its merits. To be disarrayed, disjointed may seem unproductive, but I believe that our most creative, successful people are a bit flighty. That being said, in this electronic age those who have used their creativity to invent such conveniences have also lent to the disinvestment of the public at large, in areas such as debate, civility, and common interest. We have become so media intensive (and everyone is a pundit) that we leave our critical thinking skills on the floor. That straight line is becoming our nemesis. How can we possibly talk the talk is we have no idea what the conversation is about? So, before we call it a lifetime, let’s read a book…
