A seven volume set of works on the region of India know as Mysore, this being a new edition edited by C. Hayavadana Rao. In the publisher's original cloth. New edition. This set includes volume II, parts I-IV, volume III, IV and V. It is very scarce to find this work in such a large set. Benjamin Lewis Rice originally published the Mysore Gazetteer. This set, being a new edition, has been revised and republished under the editorial leadership of C. Hayavadana Rao. Edited by C. Hayavadana Rao, the Indian historical and notable anthropologist who was a member of the Royal Anthropological Institute, as well as being a follow of the Royal Society of Economics. The work is an important and extensive work that explore the history of the Kingdom of Mysore, a region in southern India, which manifests in contemporary India as a city in the state of Karantaka. Each of the volumes focuses on a topics in relation to Mysore those being: historical, mediaeval, modern, economic, administrative In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally heavily bumped to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Each volume has instance of worming to the front and rear boards with the majority of volumes seeing worming affecting the first and last pages, including the endpapers and pastedowns. Repairs to the rear hinge of vol II part II have failed, with a large split to the joint. Small cracks to the front and rear joints of vol II part III. Splits to the rear joints to the front and rear joints of vol II with the backstrip listing. Loss to the head of the backstrip of vol V with a large split to the cloth of the rear joint, resulting in the backstrip lifting. Offsetting to the front and rear endpaper of each volume. Small tide mark to the fore edge of vol V, with a heavier tide mark to the fore edge of vol II part IV affecting the edges of numerous pages. Internally binding is strained across each volume. The half tile pages and title pages of volumes vol III, are partially detached. Half title page of vol V is partially detached. Pages 2417-ii detached but present to vol II part III, as well as page XV. Pages are light wormed across the set.One of the large folding maps is detached with large central tear, with several other maps with small closed tears. Good.
