The contents include an historical overview and sections on fifteen European countries. Dennis J. De Witt is Vice-Chairman of the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum. He holds Masters degrees in Architecture from Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Commissioner of the Massachusetts Historical Commission and Past President of the Society of Architectural Historians/New England. In addition to his teaching and publications relating architectural, design, criticism, and history, he has been active in architectural preservation for fifty years. His past academic and museum affiliations include the Boston Architectural College, where he served as Coordinator of the Department of History, Theory and Criticism; the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he was a Research Associate; and the Field Museum, where he was an Archaeologist-Cartographer, for the important Broken K Pueblo excavation. In addition to helping develop the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum?s permanent exhibits, he co-curated its ?Art of Engineering? annual exhibit, 2015, and was U.S. co-curator of its ?Aqueducts of Portugal? exhibit, 2014.
