On August 19, 1943, two days after the famous Schweinfurt-Regensburg raid, bombers and fighters of the U.S. Eighth Air Force launched attacks against German airfields in Holland - a mission they thought would be easy, a so-called milk run, but it proved to be anything but. In this fascinating new title Ivo de Jong provides detailed historical context and numerous firsthand accounts of aerial combat from diaries, letters, after-action reports, and interviews with pilots and crews on both sides to thrust readers into the dangerous world of aerial warfare. With numerous illustrations this book will appeal to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the air battles of World War II.
