Paperback. Set in the late 18th-century Mississippi Territory, Chloe Holt's Daring Ride follows the determined Chloe Holt and a small band of early Baptist settlers who risk everything for the right to worship freely under Spanish rule. Despite the constant threat of arrest - and an often-hostile wilderness - Chloe's unwavering courage shines brightest when she undertakes a perilous midnight ride along the infamous "Devil's Backbone." Her mission: to deliver supplies to exiled preacher Richard Curtis Jr. and his companions, fleeing persecution for their faith. With richly detailed historical context spanning Spanish colonial tensions, the founding of the first Baptist church in the region, and the harsh realities of frontier life - this inspiring narrative weaves together themes of sacrifice, resilience, and the power of God. A testament to one brave woman's resolve to uphold spiritual freedom in a tumultuous era, Chloe Holt's Daring Ride is a moving tribute to the unsung pioneers whose faith and heroism shaped the American South. H.M. Hatfield, Jr., is a native of West Virginia. He was born on January 31, 1940. He is a descendant of the infamous "Devil" Anse Hatfield, leader of the Hatfields in the notorious Hatfield and McCoy Feud of the late 1800s. After attending seminary, he was ordained as a Baptist minister and has pastored churches in several southern states. He is a student of history and has studied the history of Christianity, including the various denominations. It was his study of the history of Baptists in the State of Mississippi, where he now lives with his wife, that he discovered the story of Chloe Holt. Pastor Hatfield and his wife Ruth have been married more than 65 years, and they have reared five children, four daughters and one son. They have twenty-one grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Their children and grandchildren are students of Christian schools and home schooling. It was his interest in Christian education that motivated him to author this book. Pastor Hatfield's ministry has included travels in the Caribbean, India, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Russia and Mongolia.Sharing the Lightsource for our Lifesource: JPHAT 1 John 2:24-25 KJV This item is printed on demand.
