The mayor was indicted for voter fraud, and on Thursdays the slaughterhouse odor is so vile, no one will venture outdoors. A PR agent and a former Basque terrorist become involved while redeeming a corrupt industrial town that has no intention of cleaning up its act.

This book will surprise you from the get-go. Touching on widely-disparate themes such as: Basque culture in Southern California; emotional abuse; governmental fraud; and abrupt mourning, Reirin Miller tells an unusual story of love and redemption with humor and empathy. If you like Carl Hiaasen or Jane Austen, check out this book.

Reirin Miller writes stories that are a little weird in all the right places-stories that appeal to people who might be a wee bit dark and cynical, but deep down, just want to be loved.
