Condición: Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: No Dustjacket. First Edition. Front hinge mostly cracked; rear hinge with light crack. One date stamp to front pastedown; no other library markings. The classic work on the subject by the respected Montana lawman. With discussion on Pistols; Revolvers; Learning the Shooting Game; Developing Speed and Sure Hitting Ability; Training Methods; Two-Gun Training; Speed with the Single-Action Colt Revolver; Trigger Control; Psychology; Quick Draw; Mutilating Guns as an Aid to Speed; Holsters; Selections of Sights for Various Situations; Long Range Revolver Shooting, etc. Contains quite a bit of material on many of the outlaws of the West. Increasingly difficult to find in First Edition. Edward (Ed) McGivern (1874 ? 1957) was a famous exhibition shooter, shooting instructor and author. He performed extensive research into the art of handgun shooting, particularly with the double-action revolver. McGivern, along with his friend Elmer Keith, were instrumental in pushing the envelope in the early days of magnum revolvers. While Keith was primarily interested in hunting, McGivern was more interested in police use of the revolver. He demonstrated that with proper sights and use, the .357 Magnum could be used on man-sized targets at ranges of up to 600 yards. McGivern experimented with different types of iron sights, including peep sights, and telescopic sights. His preferred type of iron sight for this use was a small-diameter rear aperture and a post with a gold bead for the front. He went on to instruct police agencies, including the FBI, in his shooting techniques. McGivern is a member of the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame. Nº de ref. del artículo: SKU2020021476
