Mathematical Analysis and its Applications: Roorkee, India, December 2014 (Springer Proceedings in Mathematics & Statistics, 143)

This book discusses recent developments in and the latest research on mathematics, statistics and their applications. All contributing authors are eminent academics, scientists, researchers and scholars in their respective fields, hailing from around the world. The book presents roughly 60 unpublished, high-quality and peer-reviewed research papers that cover a broad range of areas including approximation theory, harmonic analysis, operator theory, fixed-point theory, functional differential equations, dynamical and control systems, complex analysis, special functions, function spaces, summability theory, Fourier and wavelet analysis, and numerical analysis – all of which are topics of great interest to the research community – while further papers highlight important applications of mathematical analysis in science, engineering and related areas. This conference aims at bringing together experts and young researchers in mathematics from all over the world to discuss the latest advances in mathematical analysis and at promoting the exchange of ideas in various applications of mathematics in engineering, physics and biology. This conference encourages international collaboration and provides young researchers an opportunity to learn about the current state of the research in their respective fields.

P.N. AGRAWAL is professor at the Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. He obtained his PhD degree from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, in 1980. Professor Agrawal has 110 research papers to his credit published in several journals of repute as well as guided many postgraduate and PhD students. He has presented research papers at several international conferences in India and abroad and also delivered invited lectures.

RAM N. MOHAPATRA is professor of mathematics, University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA. He received his PhD degree from the University of Jabalpur, India, in 1968. Earlier, he taught at Sambalpur University in India, American University in Beirut, Lebanon, University of Alberta, and York University, Canada, prior to coming to Orlando. His area of research is Mathematical Analysis and he is the author of two books, two edited monographs and over 120 research papers to his credit. He referees articles for professional journals and serves as a member of editorial board of a number of journals.

UADAY SINGH is assistant professor at the Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. Earlier, Dr. Singh worked as lecturer at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. His areas of research are fourier approximation and summability theory. He has more than 20 publications to his credit that include research papers, monograph and book chapters. He is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as PhD students. He is a member of many professional societies such as American Mathematical Society (AMS), International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC), International Association of Engineers (IAENG) and Indian Mathematical Society (IMS).

H.M. SRIVASTAVA  is professor emeritus at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Victoria, Canada. He joined the University of Victoria in 1969, firstas associate professor (1969–1974), and then as full professor (1974–2006). Professor Srivastava has held numerous visiting positions including (for example) those at West Virginia University in the U. S. A (1967–1969), Universite Laval in Canada (1975), and the University of Glasgow in the U. K. (1975–1976), and indeed also at many other universities and research institutes in different parts of the world. Professor Srivastava has published 21 books (monographs and edited volumes), 30 book chapters, 45 papers in international conference proceedings, and over 1,000 scientific research journal articles on various topics of mathematical analysis and applicable mathematics. In addition, he has written forewords to several books by other authors and to several special issues of scientific journals. He has also edited (and contributed to) many volumes, which are dedicated to the memories of famous mathematical scientists. Citations of his research contributions can be found in many books and monographs, PhD and D.Sc. theses, and scientific journal articles, much too numerous to be recorded here. Currently, he is actively associated editorially (that is, as editor, honorary editor, senior editor, associate editor or editorial board member) with over 200 international scientific research journals. His biographical sketches (many of which are illustrated with his photograph) have appeared in various issues of more than 50 international biographies, directories and Who’s Who’s.
