CHAPTER 1
PRINCIPLE 1
The Power of Chaos
Bust a Move!
Mankind has been created by a perfect systemand law that governs the universe. Cultureshave articulated the system as negative and positive, yin and yang, or even order and chaos. Whatever wehave chosen to name it, when we begin to work withthis perfect law, we will invite ultimate balance andbegin to fulfill the purpose of our existence.
Many people keep their lives cluttered with manythings to do to keep from facing the true reality. It's amazing how many of us are living our lives inresistance. We resist the wait in the grocery store whenthere's a long line. We resist the driver who signalsto enter our lane by speeding up to block the personinstead of politely letting him or her over.
This resistance, which has the power to destroy us,ultimately causes us to unconsciously rush through lifeas if there's something or someone after us. While allof us are running toward a greater day of perfection—whichis admirable thinking—we must not be in denialof what is going on around us or even in us.
The question that immediately comes to mind is,what are we all attempting to avoid? The answer: chaos. We have been conditioned, if not programmed, to thinkin terms of chaos when we see things in a disarrayaround us. Consequently, we typically consider oursituation to be chaotic, which causes us to begin seekingto avoid the chaos.
The truth is, if we were to allow ourselves to lookthrough a different lens, we would find that our "chaos"is the very force and power from where we came. Inthe beginning of the earth, according to the Bible, theseven creative spirits of God looked upon the earth, andthe description that we receive is that it was a dark void.Based on the description that is given to us in scripture, many of us will conclude that anything dark with noillumination is chaotic. Anything that is formless and hasno mass, space, or matter is chaotic. We automaticallysuggest to ourselves and then to others that anythingwe see that was or is disfigured is chaotic.
Chaos presents to us the possibility of potential if wementally handle it correctly. Furthermore, chaos neverpresents itself to a candidate who is unprepared. Theonly reason why chaos appears in our lives is becausethe universe knows that this is the time and the placein which we are able to handle this situation. Now wemay call it chaos, because it comes to us at a time inwhich we feel so comfortable and complacent. Chaoswill always enter our lives in the times when we arewilling to stay on one particular level of experience. Our lives are meant to constantly progress and growuntil we meet an ultimate level of consciousness, butwhen we become comfortable, this "chaos" arises.
Now this next question I'm about to ask will helpus analyze which side of the fence we are on whenit comes to thinking either negatively or positivelyabout unexpected life situations. When the unexpectedand undesirable happen in our lives, do we call thesesurprises chaotic, or do we perceive them as a door ofopportunity? Just answering this question will help usdetermine why our lives have been producing a certainkind of fruit. Whether we want to accept it or not, howwe think about a certain thing has a lot to do with whatwe experience from it.
In the beginning, God told Adam to name all ofthe animals, and in so doing, the name alone gavecharacter and responsibility. The same is true with ourlife situations. If we only think of them as negative, wegive them a negative assignment, but if we think of thempositively, we give them a positive name, characters, andresponsibilities. The power that chaos presents to us isthe power to make a decision on a day of unexpectedsituations. We have a choice as to whether we are goingto become a victim of a situation or allow our expertisein this area to come forth and shine like gold. Whenwe make decisions to let our greatness shine through,we embrace the power that will ultimately lead us into aplace of recognition. This power enables us to celebrateand accept our present talents, abilities, and strengths, which we can use as a balance of harmony to introduceto a disharmonious situation.
This power causes us to recognize what is neededand also causes us to recognize that we have the abilityto get the job done. We recognize in this time that thesituation wasn't presented so that we would be a peopleto stand by and watch but so that we could becomepeople of focus. Focused people use the power that theyhave within to bring resolve and peace to different areasin their lives. It's amazing because when we fix ourminds to see chaos through a positive mind-set, we canunderstand that the growth that we have experiencedis meant to be expressed in times of chaos. We alsounderstand that chaos in the negative sense or evenpleasure in a positive sense is in fact a product of ourown mind.
We understand that the only way in which we'regoing to get out of this situation is to detach ourselvesfrom the emotional standpoint that we could entertainconcerning the situation and tune into the helpfulnessand productivity that we should be attributing to thesituation. When we do this, we will find ourselvesbecoming courageous and powerful. We will be makingmoves in our lives that other people have been afraid tomake, which will cause people to recognize us as peopleof strength, strategy, power, poise, and courage. Wewill be what people consider to be the game changers, people that see a problem and became the solutionsimply by "busting a move."
Now the question may be at this point, what do Ido? Well the question that I propose to you is, what ishappening and where is it happening in your life? Thisplays a big part. It will help us all find what actions weneed to take. The truth is that it doesn't help us to acceptthe chaos in our lives if we aren't going to make a moveto better our lives. That would be like recognizing a stopsign and continuing to drive; it's reckless, dangerous, and thoughtless. What would be the greatest thing todo to experience growth, happiness, and even stillnesswithin our lives? It would be to recognize the chaos, accept that it is there, and find what we can do tochange this from being disastrous to being beneficial.Chaos introduces us to change, which can be difficultfor many.
Change is good once we've been able to experienceit. If we had to go by the examples of some of the peoplewho have influence in our lives, their fear of changewould make us think that change is the forbidden fruitthat no one should eat. I say this because if we all thinkof times that our parents or guardians had to experiencechange, whether it was getting fired from a job orgetting divorced or something different, they alwaysmourned as if it were the end of their existence.
Now it isn't my intention to beat anyone over thehead because they cried and refused to eat, sleep, or livebecause they'd lost a spouse or lucrative income. What Iam proposing only by my experiences of many changesis that situations in life become what we name them. Most of the time, the way we identify situations and thesolutions are from a past thought. Proof to that is ourown honesty; many of us have handled present situationssimilar to the way we've handled like situations of thepast. You can't change your action toward situationsuntil you are able to change the thought form or picturethat you have made about the situation.
The mind must be taught to think of things asnothing. Causing the mind to experience nothingnessreleases the worry of change, because all becomes thesame. There's no good or bad; everything just becomesan opportunity. The way that we arrive at this place ofnothingness may differ because we all have different lifepaths, but we all will arrive here.
I became familiar with this state of bliss throughmany changes that I defined as bad and good, until oneday I had to experience a change and before I was able toname it and form it, I experienced the space in betweenthe situation. I noticed that the space always existedand was really all there was—space or void energy. Wechoose to name it and experience it in certain ways.Recognizing void space or consciousness is all there is,and it gives us the power to master our lives to help usbest manage life situations. We find out that all chaosor even good is nothing.
Pure space presents an opportunity of creation. As Ilearned this lesson, I found my life becoming filled withease. Even though situations didn't change overnight, they weren't what I'd thought them to be. Situationsexist just as we do, waiting for guidance or direction.
We as humans make our lives very complicatedbecause we add thinking onto a thought, when reallya thought is nothing more than space. Space would bewhat I like to call G-D, because it is the nothingnesswithin all things. A young lady that I consider to be mybig sister in Illinois called me one day and said that sheneeded my advice on a family situation. The situationwas that when she and her lovely husband marriedeach other, they already had children from previousrelationships, so rules were different and boundariescould easily be crossed.
Things were touchy. She told me that she triedto reach out to her new daughter, but she was failingbecause the daughter was rude and disrespectful.Through a few conversations, I finally convinced mysister to clear her mind and let go of any thoughts orjudgments about the situation. She said at the beginningit was difficult because every time she tried to clear hermind of thoughts and judgment, her mind was stillfull of thoughts of judgments about the thoughts andjudgments that she was to be clearing her mind of.This type of thinking results in a mind overload, whichopens the mind up to suggestions and eventually slips aperson into pure surrenderence.
This is a technique used in hypnosis. After she'dallowed herself to surrender, she was then able to detachher mental position of authority and just be. She gaveup all responsibilities of being right or wrong and justdecided to be one with the nothingness of the situation. She told me that as long as she allowed herself to put theleast possible thinking into the situation, she was good. She found that as soon as she allowed her mind to wander, then she was the adult and her daughter was the child. As an adult, she was right and her daughter was verydisrespectful and wrong. For a while, we went throughthis tug-of-war. Some days she would be free from anymental positions, and other days she would be outraged.
Then one day I asked her which mental position feltbetter. Did she feel better when she was fighting to beright, or was it better when she wasn't worried whethershe was right or wrong, but simply allowed herself to bean onlooker to the situation? She said it felt better notto worry about being right or wrong. Her struggle wasthat she was taught that young adults should bow so tospeak to elders.
That just goes to show that sometimes what wehave been taught in times past and what we choose tohold on to could be the very things in our lives thatcreate chaos. I asked her which of these positions shewanted to choose; she said the latter one. After a whileof not being affected by the rudeness of her daughter'sattitude, the daughter started to soften up. The lastthing I asked my sister to do was to buy her daughtera card and flowers stating how wonderful she was as adaughter.
She struggled with it for a while, but then one dayshe did it and they've been close ever since. That justgoes to show that the situations we call chaotic are onlywaiting on directions and shaping, and from there theybecome whatever we desire.
So let us go through a few examples:
What if there's chaos breaking out of my finances?
"Bust a move." How? By first questioning how youview money and why you view it that way. Wheneverwe abuse or misuse anything, it is because of our lackof understanding. Getting more information on howfinances work will help us better understand and usethem wisely. After informing yourself, you must putthis newfound information into action and set newdisciplines, guidelines, and practices. Things such asbudgeting, no more overspending, and sticking to theplan will help guide you into the right direction. Thechanges you are willing to make will determine yournew financial experience.
What if there's chaos in my relationship?
"Bust a move." How do you ask? You should findinformation on how relationships work by seekingcounseling, communication, or finding the rightliterature that pertains to your particular relationship.Be willing to reinvent yourself, be willing to recognizethe issues and ask what you can change about yourselfthat will help the situation. What role are you playingin this chaos? What are your expectations of thisrelationship? Is this relationship an avenue in which youcan experience growth, and what steps are you willingto take to make this work? These questions are greatto ask because in order to fix chaos between you andanother, you must be ready to readjust yourself.
What if there's chaos concerning my health?
"Bust a move." How do you ask? By eating healthier, exercising, and making healthy decisions. You wouldbe surprised at what kind of transformation you couldexperience just by making a few changes within yourhabits and disciplines.
Even though these examples may seem easy, that's only because you're reading them. It becomes achallenge when you actually have to ask yourself thesequestions and move on the information that you find. These questions, when asked within yourself, can befrightening because of the answer that your inner beingwill give. It's been said many times, truth hurts; but ifwe are willing to accept the truth and work with thetruth, then we will ultimately allow our lives to evolveinto other levels of truth. This, my friend, is the truepower of chaos. This is what causes us to truly makemajor moves in our lives that will impact our future aswell as the futures of others.
CHAPTER 2
PRINCIPLE 2
The Power of Consideration
We all can agree that life is a growing process.Life challenges us to become more, do more, and be more by simply experiencing trial and error. Wecall it learning from our mistakes. I'd like to call it beingunconvinced of the information we once valued as truth. You'll find that introductions to a new level of truthwork better when we begin to think, "If this works, then what other truths can apply to this situation?" Weby consideration learn that there is, as my grandmothersays, more than one way to skin a cat. At this momentof realization, without any permission, we discover thepower that consideration holds.
Consideration opens us up to the fullness ofthe universe, which channels transformation andinformation to flow to us and through us. When webegin the process of growth and expansion in our lives,we begin to implement wisdom and harmony in our lifesituations, which attract us to other levels of success andabundance within our soul's journey.
Consideration sparks change. It causes us to viewthings in full perspective, allowing us to see not justone side of the spectrum but all sides. Our ability tosee more than one angle or standpoint of somethingmakes us a person of strength and balance. This is whypeople see psychologists and counselors—they trustin the trained ability of the counselor to help thembring balance to their lives. The power that is revealedto us gives us the capacity and the grace to be flexibleand confident in all environments. In the Bible, Paulsaid1 Corinthians 9:19-23 NIV, "Though I am freeand belong to no one, I have made myself a slave toeveryone, to win as many as possible." If we are evergoing to win in life, love, finances, friendships, health, and self-discovery, we must open ourselves to the powerof consideration, because a person of considerationstrives to see from another vantage point. In doing so,we allow our minds to expand out of dark ignorance andshame. This ultimately leads to a greater truth.
Truth enables us to continuously grow and seekmore. We become like a strainer. When substanceis running through it, it holds what is needed, but the excess is discarded. With the eyes of ourunderstanding open, we begin to operate on a wholenew level of consciousness that, in turn, causes ourinterpretation of life situations to change. Instead ofseeing things with distortion, we have the ability tosee with clarity and righteous judgment. Our mentalangle changes, and we are given the opportunity to bedetached from emotional outcomes, which causes usto understand that whatever happens is meant to be.From this point, we begin to see our life filled withnew adventure.
Consideration allows us the opportunity to knowourselves as well as others without the limited andunjustified story that we have told ourselves aboutpeople, places, and things. Unlimited ways of thinkingcause us to fall into a level of never-ending creativity; itpushes us into change and releases us from the chains oflack, limitations, and any negative emotions or thoughtsthat have hindered our lives.
