Críticas
“Herein lie visions of the ethereal next to sculptures of stone; dreams of freedom against the bite of reality. DiBlasi’s poems are not to be read hurriedly, or without commitment. They deserve to be savored, absorbed and allowed to dwell in the subconscious.
To be noticed is the use of unexpected yet perfect defining words: “my speechless hands,” “ebony-infused,” “shackled by the moon,” used to create new and startling imagery.
There is humor — “What the Eyes Say,” is at first a delightful word-play. But on second reading, it is a very sharp observation of human behavior.
Two poems of loss which grip and force one to acknowledge the terrible place that loss maintains in the balance of the world.
The final ingredients JP DiBlasi serves us, are the glory of love, the magic of Creation and Creator, and a generous serving of sensuality, be it housed in a person, a flower or a blackbird.
May we all break ties with gravity! These poems are a good jumping-off place.”
—Jo-Ellen C. Bosson, Author of Fiona’s Song, and Wild and Free; the Story of A Black-Footed Ferret
“What more could you ask for from this slim volume? The radiance of JP Di Blasi’s poetry artfully illuminates new paths through our cares and our human, ongoing struggle with demons to grace. This is the respite of poetry. In a few, a delectable humor reverberates deep within perception. Quietly redemptive.”
—Carol Birch, Author of The Whole Story Handbook: Using Imagery to Complete the Story Experience. Recipient of Anne Izard Storytellers’ Choice Award and the Storytelling World Gold Award.
“With an inviting, quiet yet assured voice, this collection illustrates how poetry can point to the angles and inverses of life’s experiences. It is composed with pleasing, flowing, accessible language that resonates with the nature and spirituality beyond what is written. JP DiBlasi’s poetry is as centered with the delight and humor of an ode to the pencil, as it is with the tragedy of a drowned boy. There are subtleties in these poems that will draw the reader to read them again.”
—Tim Dwyer, Author of Smithy of Our Longings: Poems From The Irish Diaspora
“DiBlasi’s lyrical collection leads us to places far beyond and deep within. With a keen eye, she examines the mystery of the everyday. Yet she also looks honestly at contemporary cruelties and tragedies. Her delicious language and inventive wordplay charm and delight. These are poems to savor again and again.
—Marianne McShane, Author of The Boy who Rescued a Mermaid
