"When I read Larry's poems, I feel like I'm witnessing the scenes he paints with his words. He is an artist of a different sort. His poems are so descriptive of subject and scene, he not only tells a story, but he paints a picture with his words."

-Marian O. Oregon

"Larry Troxel's poems lift the heart of man a notch higher than before he read the epic words of the poems."

-Ray G. California

"Thank you for sharing. Your poems can tell a story in a few words that I can almost see it."

-Phyllis M. Tessessee

I have previously mentioned Plutarch's statement, "Painting is silent poetry and poetry is painting that speaks." If this book of poetry "speaks" it might say that it collectively can be described by the single word "eunoia," or a conveyance of goodwill to the reader or audience; a sharing of adult mental health. I write about lifeway topics that are fair to the mind and acceptable to all audiences without risking offense. Thus, there are 142 poems indexed into 17 different topics. By the comments received from those who have read these poems, they were met with a favorable eye and kindly reception. I am happy to share them with readers in this my ninth book of poems.

Larry Troxel, The AuthorA lecturer and award-winning author, Larry began his professional career 55 years ago as a sheriff's detective and later, as a district attorney investigator. He sleuthed civil wrongs and criminal intelligence, major fraud, homicides and other dastardly crimes. After government service, he works privately as a Certified Legal Investigator for various major law firms. Apart from his "dick tracy" career dealing with the trying side of life, he pursued another genre of self-edification, that of authoring of professional papers and of a poet. He is a lyricist for songs on two CDs-Music and Poetry From the Heart, and Songscapes. This current book, How Long Do Hugs Last?, is his ninth published book of poetry and displays a rich talent in rhyming life experiences, imagination, humor and wisdom through providential inspiration.
