The marked development, during the past decade, in power logging machinery and methods has made it desirable to revise the first edition. A chapter has also been added on the use of crawler tractors in logging work because their rapid adaptation to the loggers needs indicates the extensive adoption of this form of equipment. This chapter has been prepared by A. Koroleff, a Russian forest engineer, who has spent much tune in studying the use of this kind of equipment on logging operations in the United States.
The subject matter has been rearranged, in part, to better meet the needs of the teacher and student and much of the text has been rewritten.
Acknowledgment is here made to those whose constructive criticisms and suggestions relating to the revision of the first edition have proved invaluable, and also to all others who have aided in the preparation of the text.

This volume has been prepared as a text-book for use in Forest Schools. The subject is broad in scope and an attempt has been made to cover only the more important features of operation; hence the innumerable variations in equipment and method which are peculiar to different forest regions are not included. Of the many minor industries related to logging, only two of the more important are treated, turpentine orchard ing and tanbark harvesting.
One of the most difficult and costly features of a logging operation is the movement of the timber from the stump to the manufacturing plant and the chief facilities and methods for-doing this are discussed at length, especially logging rail roads. The greatest emphasis is laid on features about which there is not much written material available, while engineering subjects such as road surveys and the measurement of earth work and rock-work are omitted because they are treated in numerous other text-books.

Para cumplir con el plazo de desistimiento, basta con que envíe su comunicación relativa al ejercicio del derecho de desistimiento antes de que venza el periodo de desistimiento.
Efectos del desistimiento
Si rescinde este contrato, le reembolsaremos todos los pagos que hayamos recibido de usted, incluidos los gastos de envío (excepto los gastos adicionales que surjan si elige un tipo de envío que no sea el tipo de envío estándar más económico que ofrecemos).
Podemos hacer una deducción del reembolso por la pérdida de valor de cualquier bien suministrado, si la pérdida es el resultado de una manipulación innecesaria por su parte.
Efectuaremos el reembolso sin demoras indebidas y, a más tardar, 14 días después de que se nos informe de su decisión de rescindir este contrato.

El plazo se cumple si devuelve la mercancía antes de que venza el periodo de 14 días. Tendrá que asumir los gastos directos de devolución de los bienes. Excepciones al derecho de desistimiento
El derecho de desistimiento no se aplica a lo siguiente:
- La entrega de periódicos, diarios o revistas, con la excepción de los contratos de suscripción; y
- El suministro de contenido digital que no se proporcione en un soporte tangible (por ejemplo, en un CD o DVD) si, al hacer el pedido, aceptó que podíamos empezar a entregarlo y que no podría desistir una vez iniciada la entrega.
