This guidebook, now in its third edition, focuses on the area of Cornwall around the Lizard peninsula reaching from Helston, Loe Bar and Porthleven in the west, to the southern banks of the Helford River and Falmouth Bay in the east. The guide contains all you need to know to help make your visit a success the best walks, where to find the best family (and dog friendly) beaches and the locations of the best pasties and ice creams. The Things to Do section suggests activities for all ages and all weathers with facts, anecdotes, natural history and detailed maps to make this your most useful companion guide. Walking in Cornwall is a hugely popular activity. This guidebook covers the whole coast path along with many inland and riverside walks, which are illustrated by detailed maps, instructions and photographs. The Lizard coastline has picture postcard harbours like Mullion, Cadgwith and Coverack as well as the long sandy beaches at Poldhu, Gunwalloe and Kennack Sands. The famously beautiful Kynance Cove with its magnificent serpentine cliffs is close to Lizard Point the most southerly point in Britain. The lighthouse here protects ships from infamous Man O War reef. Further round the coast between Porthallow and Porthoustock, lie the Manacles - the graveyard of numerous ships and now a thriving centre for wreck diving. The highly unusual geology of the Lizard has its own rare ecosystems. We explain why the area is so famous for its rocks and how they came to be formed. Giant satellite dishes at Goonhilly Earth Station contrast with the wild beauty of the downland. We have detailed walks to Frenchman s Creek and to Tremayne Quay part of the Trelowarren Estate and home to the Cornwall Craft Association and one of the best Bronze Age fogous (underground passage) in Cornwall. On the north bank of the Helford, Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens are internationally renowned for their many sub tropical plants. At Gweek you will find the National Seal Sanctuary and from there you are just a mile from the public viewing enclosure at RNAS Culdrose home to the Royal Navy s Search & Rescue squadron that patrols the Cornish coast.. NOTA: El libro no está en español, sino en inglés.
