Cedella is a musician as well, performing with the Melody Makers internationally. She lives in Miami, Florida, and has three children. Vanessa Brantley-Newton is the author and illustrator of Let Freedom Sing and Dont Let Auntie Mabel Bless the Table. She loves to craft, cook, collect vintage childrens books, tell stories, make dolls, and shop. She lives in East Orange, New Jersey, with her husband, daughter, and two cats.
