Now available for the first time in paperback, "Last Full Measure" is the fourth and final volume of J. G. Randall's monumental "Lincoln the President, a multivolume work considered by many to be indispensable to Lincoln scholars. Completed by Richard N. Current using the notes and drafts Randall left at his death, "Lincoln the President: Last Full Measure" describes the key events of Lincoln's administration from December 1863 to April 1865. These include his plan of reconstruction, the Thirteenth Amendment to abolish slavery, efforts for a negotiated peace, and foreign affairs during his last year in office.

Críticas
"A profound study to be read with pleasure and referred to later for unimpeachable facts. Here is the last word on Lincoln's life and problems during his most crucial year." -- Jay Monaghan, New York Times "A lifelong familiarity with the sources for the period and an instinctive feeling for some of the permanent features of the American political scene enable Professor Randall to illumine with a rare vividness the issues as they presented themselves in all their hurried complexity to Lincoln and his contemporaries." -- Manchester Guardian "No previous biographer of Lincoln has equalled Professor Randall... indubitably the last word is his." -- New Statesman
