In the quiet little town of Whisper, life moves at its own gentle pace-until a boy named Toby comes barreling through it.
Toby has very little to call his own. His clothes are worn, his shoes are tired, and most days he is left to wander on his own. But what he lacks in comfort, he makes up for with something far greater-a restless curiosity, a sharp wit, and a heart that refuses to give up on finding connection.
From the back dock of the old general store to the dusty lanes of the stockyard, Toby turns ordinary moments into unforgettable adventures. Alongside his loyal friend Zeb, he dives headfirst into mischief, laughter, and the simple joys of small-town life. Whether he is outsmarting a carnival game, peppering strangers with endless questions, or chasing the thrill of a bicycle race, Toby lives every moment with a spirit that cannot be contained.
But life in Whisper is not without its hardships.
When tragedy strikes, the town-and everyone in it-is changed forever.
Yet Toby's story does not end where one might expect. In ways both mysterious and deeply moving, his journey continues, exploring themes of friendship, loss, and the enduring nature of the human spirit.
The Life of Toby is a heartfelt coming-of-age story filled with humor, warmth, and unforgettable characters. It is a story about a boy who had almost nothing-yet left behind something that could never be lost.
