nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - He was seventeen years old, pressing his face against an airplane window, watching the lights of New York City spread out beneath him like nothing he had ever imagined. Behind him was a small farming village in Guyana, a childhood lit by kerosene lanterns, and eleven brothers and sisters who had taught him everything he would need for the life ahead. Ahead of him was a country that asked nothing of him yet, but would soon ask everything.A Life Well Lived is the memoir of Jimmy T. Singh, who arrived in America with nothing and built a life that included a marriage of nearly four decades, two sons, a grandson, and a career spanning almost four decades that took him from a cubicle in a financial department to the boardroom of a multibillion-dollar healthcare organization as its Corporate Controller. This is not a story about luck. It is a story about discipline: the discipline of a family with very little in the way of material comfort but a great deal of faith and resilience, the discipline of a young immigrant learning a new country one subway stop at a time, and the discipline of a man who paid off his mortgage at forty-nine and left corporate life on his own terms at sixty-one.Told in the third person, the way Singh first told it to his grandson before nap time each afternoon, the book moves between the rice fields of Johanna, Guyana, the boardrooms of Manhattan, and the quiet mornings of a new chapter built one deliberate decision at a time. Along the way, Singh shares the financial principles that carried his family from nothing to security, the losses that taught him not to wait to say what matters to the people he loves, and the faith that carried him through all of it.A Life Well Lived is for anyone who has ever built something from very little, crossed an ocean or a threshold into the unknown, or wondered what it actually takes to live a life you are proud of. It is a reminder that success is not only what you build. It is how you live while you are building it.…
