Neuware - 'The Life and Letters of John Burroughs' is a definitive biographical account and collection of correspondence detailing the existence and inner thoughts of one of America's preeminent naturalists. Compiled and written by Clara Barrus, Burroughs' longtime physician and confidante, this work provides an exhaustive look into the man behind the influential nature essays that helped define the genre. The text navigates Burroughs' intellectual development, his deep connection to the Hudson Valley, and his significant contributions to the early environmental movement.Central to this work is the inclusion of numerous personal letters that illuminate Burroughs' relationships with contemporary luminaries and his reflections on the literary and scientific currents of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Through these pages, readers gain a unique perspective on his philosophy of 'the art of seeing things' and his unwavering commitment to the preservation of the natural world. 'The Life and Letters of John Burroughs' stands as a vital literary monument, offering an unparalleled view into the life of a writer whose observations continue to inspire a deep appreciation for the wilderness and the simple life. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
