You didn't set out to build a false life. You learned how to survive. You learned how to be strong. You learned how to perform, protect, achieve, manage, and adapt. And it worked. Until it didn't. In The Life You Built, Scott D. Jennings invites readers into a transformational journey of awareness, healing, and freedom. With vulnerability and grounded clarity, he explores the False Self-the identity we construct to protect ourselves-and the True Self-the person we were created to be. This book is not about self-improvement. It is about coming home.
Drawing from Christian spirituality, lived experience, and the wisdom of the Enneagram, Jennings helps readers:
- Recognize the patterns of the False Self that once helped them survive
- Understand the wounds and fears beneath those patterns
- Gently loosen the grip of identity built on protection and performance
- Receive healing where strength became armor
- Reconnect with the True Self where peace, presence, and love live
This book is for:
- Christians longing for deeper spiritual formation
- Enneagram enthusiasts seeking integration rather than identity
- Therapy clients navigating self-awareness and healing
- Men and couples who are tired of performing strength
- Spiritual seekers who sense there is more beneath the surface
Honest, reflective, and deeply pastoral, The Life You Built offers not a quick fix but a steady invitation:
Loosen what was built in fear. Receive what was always true. Come home-again and again-to the self God intended.
