A very good two volume set in matching half calf bindings. 12mo. 6.25" x 4.0" x 0.75". Brown leather spine and corners over marbled boards, with matching page edges. Smooth spines with dulled gilt titles. Light staining to titles and preliminaries, a little lightl foxing to the margins, but overall a clean well illustrated set. VG. The cloth is darkened/patinated with age and handling; top edge a little dusty. The contents are very clean, and the hinges very strong. Vol. I includes: History of Vesuvius; Historical Notice of Pompeii; Public Roads; Baths; Theatres etc. Vol. II contains an account of the domestic habits of the inhabitants.
