Katheryn Sanders sees what others miss. It’s why she’s so good at what she does. It’s also why she tends to do it alone.

A dead analyst. A predator silenced. A librarian poisoned among his own stacks.

On the surface, the victims have almost nothing in common. Sanders knows better. Somewhere beneath the noise, there’s a thread tying them together, and she’s going to pull it until something gives.

Meanwhile, a masked crew calling themselves the ZooKeepers is tearing through Chicago’s drug trade, leaving dealers dead, buildings burning and a city not entirely sure it wants them stopped.

The deeper she digs, the less either case wants to stay separate, and every step forward puts her further at odds with the people telling her where to draw the line.

With a new captain tightening the reins and the truth slipping further out of reach, Sanders has to decide how far she’s willing to go to catch those responsible.

And whether doing the job right still means doing it by the rules.

Some killers want control.
Others want order.
