Letters to My Homestead is a tender, lyrical exploration of the first sacred year spent on new soil. In this debut poetry collection, Jeffrey Beck captures the quiet revelations of homestead life. Written in forms of free verse, haiku, and tritina, these poems chronicle the beauty, heartbreak, and humility found in tending a small piece of land and building a dream. This is a love letter to the animals, the garden, wild nature, and amusing predicaments. For anyone who has ever planted hope, mourned a sentient being, or found beauty in unlikely places-this book is for you.

Jeffrey is a retired Army soldier and combat veteran. He holds a BA in English from American Military University and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University. He lives in southern Virginia on a five-acre homestead with his wife, cat, and one-eyed dog. He enjoys relaxing with his chickens, reading the works of Whitman and Twain, and writing fantasy, fiction, and poetry.
