Everyone came to Watson's...The secrets of a human heart can often only be unlocked by the generations before it. In a sweeping tale of love, loss, faith and forgiveness, Don’t Leave Me, French Fries, is set in Peck’s Beach, New Jersey’s famed Watson’s Restaurant. In his debut novel, Christopher Abbott tells the coming-of-age story of Christopher Saxon (Sax), and his quest to understand the anguish and innocence of the people whose lives he becomes so intertwined with through his work at Watson’s. Set in the halcyon days of the early 1960s, Don’t Leave Me, French Fries reaches back to choices made during the first world war, and forward as Sax matures from a beach-loving bachelor to a father of two.
Acerca del autor: Christopher Abbott was born in Philadelphia, but made in Ocean City (formerly known as Peck’s Beach). As a college student and then an elementary school teacher, he spent summers as the dining room manager of Watson’s for 12 years. Inspired by the lifelong friendships he’s had with his Watson’s crew ever since, the intersection of multiple lives over many decades, and the faith that “All things work to good for those who love the Lord,” Don’t Leave Me, French Fries is told with Abbott’s signature humor, optimism and compassion for the human spirit. Abbott is a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, author, realtor and resident of Ocean City, NJ. You will still find him on Morningside beach.
