Learning Looks Different (Paperback)

In this beautifully illustrated and heartwarming story, a dedicated teacher invites her curious classroom into a tale that gently unpacks a powerful lesson: fairness doesn't always mean the same thing for everyone—it means everyone getting what they need to thrive.

As the classroom buzzes with energy, the teacher gathers her students and begins a story about a family on a crisp autumn day. The family is heading to an apple orchard, baskets in hand, excitement in the air. But as the children begin to pick apples, it becomes clear that not everyone can reach the same branches. Some trees are tall, and some children need a little help to gather their share.

Through gentle guidance and thoughtful actions, the family finds ways to support one another—offering suggestions for success and adjusting plans so that everyone can take part. Back in the classroom, the students reflect on the story and begin to understand: just like in apple picking, every child in school may need something a little different to succeed.

With lush, expressive illustrations that captivate readers of all ages, this book is more than just a story—it's a conversation starter. Perfect for homes, classrooms, and libraries, Learning Looks Different offers a compassionate approach to understanding equity and inclusion.

This book doesn’t just teach—it invites empathy, encourages questions, and fosters meaningful dialogue between children and adults. Whether you're a teacher looking to introduce the concept of educational equity or a parent hoping to help your child see the world through a kinder lens, Learning Looks Different provides a gentle, age-appropriate way to explore why fairness can look different for everyone.

A timeless message wrapped in a relatable tale, this book reminds us all that when we lift each other up, everyone can reach the fruit of their potential.
