Paperback. She came from nowhere, with wings and a war she refused to name.Susanne asked only one thing of the people she recruited: leave your old name behind. What she never told them was how many worlds she'd already lost trying to stop what's coming.Argentum leads a small, strange family of the powerful and the damaged - a woman who can't be killed, a man who's outlived his own memory, a soldier who does the math nobody else is willing to do. They've spent years holding the line against a corruption that eats planets whole, one rescue at a time, one quiet victory nobody back home will ever hear about. Then New Halcyon falls in a single night, and takes one of their own down with it - not dead, not alive, something considerably worse than either. Now they're racing across the stars for a resurrection that might not work, hunted by enemies with no faces and no mercy, while the very people they're trying to save start choosing sides. Some believe the crew are the last hope against the dark. Others think an army of the corrupted and the discarded should never have been trusted with a war this big. They're about to find out which one is true - and what it costs to be wrong. A found-family team of misfit heroes fights a galaxy-devouring corruption, recruited by a mysterious angel. When one of their own falls at New Halcyon, they risk everything on a desperate resurrection-only to awaken a darker threat within. This item is printed on demand. Susanne asked only one thing of the people she recruited: leave your old name behind. What she never told them was how many worlds she'd already lost trying to stop what's coming.
Argentum leads a small, strange family of the powerful and the damaged — a woman who can't be killed, a man who's outlived his own memory, a soldier who does the math nobody else is willing to do. They've spent years holding the line against a corruption that eats planets whole, one rescue at a time, one quiet victory nobody back home will ever hear about.
Then New Halcyon falls in a single night, and takes one of their own down with it — not dead, not alive, something considerably worse than either.
They're about to find out which one is true — and what it costs to be wrong.
