He's been free for three weeks. She's still out there — controlled, running missions, carrying things she doesn't know the names of.
Mace is moving through the Fade with nothing but fragments of memory and a hand that runs warm near things that shouldn't still be running. The woman with the same scar on her head is always just ahead of him — a ghost in a crowd, a direction on a Broker's map, a face that looked straight through him and kept walking.
But the closer he gets to her, the clearer something else becomes. The deals that are too smooth. The components moving to exactly the right places. The Commission building something they believe is civilization and he's starting to understand is something else entirely.
Someone has been running the wasteland like a board game for a hundred and fifty years. Nobody knows it. Nobody's been asking the right questions.
Until now.
The Last Recall: Book Two — Dead Signal continues the post-apocalyptic series set in a world where the 1980s never ended, the internet never came back, and something ancient and patient has been rebuilding itself one piece at a time.
