Neuware - 'The Last of the Lenape and Other Poems' by Samuel M. Janney, first published in 1839, presents a collection of verses reflecting on nature, history, and the plight of the Lenape (Delaware) Native American tribe. Janney's work offers a unique perspective on the interactions between European settlers and indigenous populations in early America, capturing the spirit of a changing landscape and the fading presence of the Lenape people. The poems blend historical narrative with natural observation, inviting readers to contemplate themes of loss, displacement, and the enduring connection between humanity and the environment. This volume provides valuable insight into 19th-century American attitudes toward Native Americans and the natural world. Janney's empathetic portrayal makes this collection a compelling read for those interested in American history, Native American studies, and nature poetry. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you will see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations.
