Daniel had walked the cobbled streets of his village centre countless times before. He had been walking for what seemed like hours, thoughts racing around his head, when an odd little bookshop, tucked between two taller buildings, stopped him in his tracks. He knew this part of town well, yet somehow he had never noticed it before. Above the entrance hung an old, weathered sign bearing the words: The First Door.
That’s an odd name for a bookshop, he thought. Yet before he could take another step, something about the place drew him inside.
Among the crowded shelves, Daniel discovered an unmarked leather book with only blank pages inside. Hidden somewhere within that emptiness was a carefully folded map showing five mysterious lands, with paths winding across the parchment. Some seemed to lead forwards, while others curled strangely back upon themselves.
Before Daniel could make sense of any of it, a bookkeeper appeared. She was an elderly woman wearing a shawl, slightly hunched forward, with ink stains across her fingers. She presented him with an antique brass lantern and a choice he never expected he would have to make.
Do I leave this strange place and return to the cobbled streets and my racing thoughts … or do I follow the old lady and discover what lies beyond the First Door?
The moment he chose to step through it, the familiar world around him dissolved.
What followed was a magical journey through five extraordinary lands. Each one challenged Daniel’s mind, body and soul. Along the way, they stripped everything away that he once believed to be real, pushing him beyond his limits, as his perception of himself and the world around him began to change.
The deeper Daniel travelled, the more aware he became that something else was travelling with him. He caught occasional glimpses of it and constantly felt its presence. Whatever was following him drew closer, and the more progress Daniel made, the stronger it became.
The Lantern Path quickly became far more than the adventure Daniel had chosen. Every new land revealed another mystery, every victory changed the journey, and the questions that once followed him through his ordinary life began to look very different in a world where the impossible had become his new reality.
Every step taken with Daniel brings you closer to your own path.
The First Door is only the beginning.
What awakens in you… is where the real adventure begins.
