The first, comprehensive book in the Croatian language about Marko Polo is called a lucidar, which in the Middle Ages corresponded, to the greatest extent, to today's encyclopedia. This lucidar is a kind of encyclopedia about Marko Polo, the greatest sailor, explorer and traveler from the Croatian place, who first introduced the far-reaching China and its civilization closer to the Christian world, but at the same time was the first European to whom the mighty Mongolian Canons then allowed access to their courtyards. The author of the book, Branko Vujanovic, attempts to summarize and portray Marco Polo in the cultural and historical circumstances.
