I Know We Are Better Than This is a realistic, sometimes hard-hitting, sometimes humorous look at the major cultural issues facing the USA and the world. Tension and conflict are threatening to alter our societal landscape.
What does the future look like for our good ol’ USA? We are a fundamentally sound nation, and throughout our history, we have shown greatness in our accomplishments, resourcefulness in solving our problems, and perseverance against the odds. However, the potential outcome of our current direction is concerning, and the need for a major shift is becoming more urgent.
According to the author, B.R. Allen, “We are smarter than we appear. We are too tolerant of bad behavior. We are allowing the political divide to widen. Our morality and ethical standards are deteriorating. We are witnessing damaging changes and simply letting them happen.”
We should all agree with the author when he says, “I Know We Are Better Than This.”
Quotes by the author from the book:
“Our Founding Fathers fought and won a battle they had seemingly no hope in winning. But with an unbounded determination, an utterly complete commitment to a vision, a fearless faith, a willingness to sacrifice everything, and sometimes with seemingly supernatural intervention, those great patriots claimed their freedom and then gifted us ours. It is a most precious gift that we must cherish and protect.”
“By asking the government to take over everything, we are then choosing to become servants to that government. Ceding our freedoms and rights is, in essence, self-inflicted slavery.”
“Those that are unwilling to open their minds and consider other possibilities are only seeking affirmation. They are imprisoned by their close-mindedness. They are held captive inside their own ideology.”
“Extremism relies on emotion and irrationality at the expense of reason and rationality.“
“When we want to believe something because of an emotional connection, that is a fast track to being misled. Conversely, if we unbiasedly follow the facts in our journey to find the truth, the final destination is enlightenment.”
