Paperback. You're not addicted to nicotine. You're addicted to what nicotine pretends to give you. If you've tried to quit smoking before-patches, gum, willpower, hypnosis-and failed, this book will show you why. And it has nothing to do with weakness. After four decades as a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in addiction and trauma, Dr. Judy Rosenberg discovered a pattern that changed everything: people don't smoke just because of nicotine. They smoke because cigarettes fill a psychological void-a "hole in the soul"-created long before their first puff. That cigarette in your hand isn't just delivering a chemical. It's delivering the illusion of comfort, control, or confidence that you learned to crave as a child. Until you heal that original wound, no quit method will work for long. KICK IT takes you through the same clinical process Dr. Judy uses with her patients-a proven method that has helped thousands finally break free: DISCOVER YOUR "WHY"Uncover the childhood experiences that made cigarettes feel essential-and why willpower alone has never been enough. LEARN THE MIND MAP METHODDr. Judy's patented nine-panel framework charts your journey from the original wound, through chaos and defense, into healing and freedom. IDENTIFY YOUR SMOKING PERSONALITYAre you a Comfort Smoker, Control Smoker, or Performance Smoker? Each type is driven by different needs-and requires different tools to heal. BREAK THE SPELL WITH AVERSION THERAPYReach "Destination Disgust"-the moment your brain flips from craving cigarettes to rejecting them completely. CHOOSE YOUR PATH TO FREEDOMFollow the 21-Day Gradual Withdrawal Plan or the 5-Day Cold Turkey Aversion Plan-both clinically designed for lasting success. This isn't a book about deprivation. It's about reclaiming yourself. You'll learn why cigarettes never actually calmed you (the calm came from your own breath), why they never gave you control (they took it), and why they never made you confident (they deepened your insecurity). Once you see these truths clearly, you won't have to force yourself not to smoke. You simply won't want to. What makes this book different: Written by a practicing clinical psychologist, not a motivational speakerEvery technique tested in real therapy sessions with real patientsAddresses the root psychological cause-not just the symptomsIncludes practical tools: breathing techniques, journaling prompts, daily checklists, and a relapse recovery protocolWorks for cigarettes, vapes, and all nicotine products"You didn't start smoking because you were weak. If you’ve tried to quit smoking before—patches, gum, willpower, hypnosis—and failed, this book will show you why. And it has nothing to do with weakness.
After four decades as a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in addiction and trauma, Dr. Judy Rosenberg discovered a pattern that changed everything: people don’t smoke just because of nicotine. They smoke because cigarettes fill a psychological void—a “hole in the soul”—created long before their first puff.
That cigarette in your hand isn’t just delivering a chemical. It’s delivering the illusion of comfort, control, or confidence that you learned to crave as a child. Until you heal that original wound, no quit method will work for long.
KICK IT takes you through the same clinical process Dr. Judy uses with her patients—a proven method that has helped thousands finally break free:
DISCOVER YOUR “WHY”
Uncover the childhood experiences that made cigarettes feel essential—and why willpower alone has never been enough.
LEARN THE MIND MAP METHOD
Dr. Judy’s patented nine-panel framework charts your journey from the original wound, through chaos and defense, into healing and freedom.
IDENTIFY YOUR SMOKING PERSONALITY
Are you a Comfort Smoker, Control Smoker, or Performance Smoker? Each type is driven by different needs—and requires different tools to heal.
BREAK THE SPELL WITH AVERSION THERAPY
Reach “Destination Disgust”—the moment your brain flips from craving cigarettes to rejecting them completely.
CHOOSE YOUR PATH TO FREEDOM
Follow the 21-Day Gradual Withdrawal Plan or the 5-Day Cold Turkey Aversion Plan—both clinically designed for lasting success.
This isn’t a book about deprivation. It’s about reclaiming yourself.
You’ll learn why cigarettes never actually calmed you (the calm came from your own breath), why they never gave you control (they took it), and why they never made you confident (they deepened your insecurity). Once you see these truths clearly, you won’t have to force yourself not to smoke. You simply won’t want to.
What makes this book different:
- Written by a practicing clinical psychologist, not a motivational speaker
- Every technique tested in real therapy sessions with real patients
- Addresses the root psychological cause—not just the symptoms
- Includes practical tools: breathing techniques, journaling prompts, daily checklists, and a relapse recovery protocol
- Works for cigarettes, vapes, and all nicotine products
