First edition of this very early exhibition of the French impressionists in Bohemia. The exhibition was organized by the Manes Union of Fine Arts, the Bohemian artist's association and exhibition society, who, by its international exhibitions, was responsible for the early interactions between the Bohemian artists and the foreign modern movements. The introductory text is by FrantiÅ¡ek Xaver Åalda, the Czech journalist, and art critic. The catalogue contains the list of the 156 exhibited paintings by 38 (mostly French) artists, and illustrated with fifteen plates of photographic reproductions of works by Honoré Daumier, Adolphe Monticelli, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Paul Cézanne, Albert Lebourg, Édouard Vuillard, Vincent Van Gogh, Théo van Rysselberghe, Maximilien Luce and Paul Gauguin. Scarce, we could trace only three copies in institutional holdings worldwide. Cover toned and somewhat stained, the rubbed. Plates are loose.
