Neuware - 'Juvenal and Persius' presents a comprehensive collection of the works of two of the most influential satirists in Roman history. This volume captures the biting wit and moral intensity of Juvenal, whose sixteen satires provide a vivid, often scathing, critique of Roman life, corruption, and social decay during the late 1st and early 2nd centuries AD. Juvenal's mastery of the hexameter and his profound influence on Western literature are evident in his sharp observations of human vice and folly.Complementing Juvenal's work are the satires of Persius, a Stoic poet known for his intellectual depth and moral earnestness. Persius's contributions, though fewer in number, offer a rigorous exploration of ethical philosophy and personal integrity, presented through complex and highly polished verse. Together, these authors offer an essential window into the literary culture and social tensions of Imperial Rome. This translation serves as an invaluable resource for students of classics and readers interested in the evolution of satire as a literary form, preserving the power and relevance of these ancient voices for a contemporary audience. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations. Within the United States, you may freely copy and distribute this work, as no entity (individual or corporate) has a copyright on the body of the work.As a reproduction of a historical artifact, this work may contain missing or blurred pages, poor pictures, errant marks, etc. Scholars believe, and we concur, that this work is important enough to be preserved, reproduced, and made generally available to the public.
