This book deals with the critical need to continue embryonic stem-cell research. It attempts to debunk the sacred cow of “pro-life.” The plot is fairly simple: a group of people who would benefit from embryonic stem-cell research inflict bodily harm to two high-ranking members of the pro-life movement so they must experience what life is like from their perspectives. The group first attacks the men by trying to damage their kidneys. When that doesn’t work, they take more drastic action. Along the way, readers are introduced to some interesting characters. Dick is a Vietnam veteran, an excellent marksman, and a male chauvinist pig. Gabriella’s love of food makes her creations into an art form. Sue and Tom form a romantic relationship through their mutual love of swimming. Other members of the pro-embryonic stem cell research movement include Monty, one of the richest men in the world whose wife died of Alzheimer’s; Bill, a security expert whose wife died of MS; and Bob, a doctor whose best friend died of ALS.

Acerca del autor
I went to Indiana University and majored in Computer Science. I worked as a computer analyst for 20 years. I have also dealt with an incurable disorder known as spinocerebellar ataxia for the past 40 years. The doctors have told me that this disorder is permanent and will probably get worse. The only thing they can do is prescribe pain medication. In my 20s, I started having perception problems. For years, walking was difficult, so a wheelchair became necessary. At first, I said I would only use a manual chair, but now I need a power wheelchair. I am a product of a society that puts unborn babies higher on the priority list than people with disabilities. I have never been married. I don’t have any children. I am on Medicaid. I must have a nurse’s aide help me twice a day. I even need help getting dressed. I have not driven in 14 years. These may seem like disadvantages, but they have given me great insight into the world of people who are dependent on the handicap bus service. Delaware has a bus service called Dart, which I have used for 14 years. I will always remember the time I saw a woman getting dialysis treatment all night. Seeing her husband hug her was very memorable. Much of this book was conceived while I was swimming as long as four miles a day. I have swam in the Delaware Senior Olympics for 14 years. I don’t swim as fast as most people, but I’m happy I can swim as much as I do with the strength of just one arm.
