This is a wide-ranging look at the key people, places and music in jazz from yesteryear to today. There are interviews with masters such as Dave Brubeck and James Moody and profiles of all-time greats like Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk and Wynton Marsalis. The book discusses the difference between ragtime, bebop and fusion, and includes a comprehensive discography. The accompanying audio compact disk provides a soundtrack of jazz classics.
