James Reimer, the author of Ardmore, a book released in 2013 has recently completed a follow up book titled The Jack People. Both books take place in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and the surrounding areas of the state. His new book ties some reported but unproven events that have been linked to western Nebraska’s untold past. The first UFO crash that reportedly happened in Max, Nebraska back in 1884 and the Wee People of the Pedro Mountains just across the state line into Wyoming, are the backbone of his latest book. Real documented cattle mutilations are thrown in the mix to make a suspenseful read. In the early spring of 1959, a rural Nebraska veterinarian is called out to the state’s first documented cattle mutilation. When the state authorities get involved in the case, a link between the mutilation, a UFO sighting and an unsolved murder leads the investigation to a strange, mythological clan they call The Jack People. These dangerous creatures stand only eighteen inches tall and ride like the speed of lightning on their prized jack rabbits. These bizarre events are brought back to life fifty four years later when Jake Young’s German shepherd, Yollie, is injured by a poisoned porcupine quill. The event brings back two old members of the original members of the team as well as a few new ones. The reopened investigation leads the men down the rabbit hole and into a new realm of danger and intrigue.
