The gap between where most people are and where they want to be is rarely a question of talent or opportunity. In the majority of cases it comes down to what is happening in the mind, and whether that mind is working for its owner or against them.

In The Most Important Six Inches of Your Life Are Between Your Ears, John McHale, international speaker, ActionCOACH franchise owner, and one of the most decorated business coaches across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, makes the case for mindset as the single most important factor in determining the outcomes we experience in life and in business.

Drawing on a philosophical lineage that runs from Lao Tse and Napoleon Hill through to Jim Rohn and Earl Shoaff, and grounding every argument in the stories of real people, John demonstrates how the same principles that drove some of history's greatest thinkers are available to anyone prepared to apply them. The book covers multiple proven frameworks and models, presented in John's direct, straight-talking style, giving readers practical tools rather than abstract theory.

The case studies that run through the book include the story of four ordinary working mums from York who became the oldest women ever to row the Atlantic Ocean and hold the Guinness World Record, a Paralympic double gold medallist who rebuilt his life after being told he would never walk again and went on to win two World Championship gold medals, a litigation law firm four years old that represented billion-pound organisations from rural East Yorkshire, a funeral director whose entire business was sparked by a single question on his wedding day, and a business owner who pulled herself back from the edge of a breakdown to rebuild her life entirely on her own terms.

Each story is different, yet the underlying principle is always the same. When the mind is directed with clarity and backed by consistent action, extraordinary outcomes become possible for ordinary people.

Written in John's characteristic straight-talking, no nonsense voice, this book is as far from generic self-help as it is possible to get. It is honest about the difficulty of change, direct about the reasons most people fail to make it, and uncompromising in its belief that the capability for more exists in every person who picks it up.

For anyone who has ever suspected there is more available to them than they are currently experiencing, this is the book that explains why, and exactly what to do about it.
