The time has arrived for a new used vehicle playbook.

In 2025, making money in the used vehicle business is more difficult than it has ever been. Margins have returned to pre-pandemic levels, and sales volumes are uncertain. The pain for dealers will only get worse as they operate with a traditional used vehicle playbook and principles the market has effectively broken.

Invested challenges the fundamental beliefs and assumptions of optimal used vehicle operations that have shaped the industry for more than a century. It offers dealers a path forward, revealing the strategy and principles of a new playbook to help you find your footing and grow your profitability and success—despite a historically challenging market that continually tests your used vehicle operations. It details:

• How data science gave birth to a new way to think about and manage each used vehicle’s investment potential

• How to realign your acquisition, appraising, and pricing practices to your desired ROI-based strategy

• How to determine what is the “right” money for a used vehicle

• How to eliminate suboptimal outcomes that result from your team over-relying on tradition-based bias, belief, and best practices

• How to establish and execute ROI-strategy-based accountability and oversight of your used vehicle operations

Invested is the new used vehicle playbook that recognizes that today’s used vehicle business requires a different strategy than that of the past. Its invaluable guidance charts the course forward, serving as a ready reference for dealers who want their used vehicle operations to remain relevant and profitable in the years to come.
