Paperback. "Introduction to the Old Testament" is a comprehensive and scholarly exploration of the foundational texts of the Hebrew Bible. Written by the renowned theologian and archaeologist Ernst Sellin, this work serves as an essential guide for students, clergy, and laypeople seeking a deeper understanding of the literary and historical contexts of the Old Testament. Sellin meticulously examines the composition, authorship, and chronological development of the biblical books, employing the rigorous methods of higher criticism. The work is structured to provide a clear overview of the Pentateuch, the historical books, the prophets, and the poetic and wisdom literature. By tracing the evolution of Israel's religious traditions and the formation of the biblical canon, Sellin offers invaluable insights into the cultural and spiritual forces that shaped the ancient Near East. This classic volume remains a significant contribution to the field of biblical studies, valued for its clarity, depth, and systematic approach.
