Teresa of Ávila's Classic Work of Catholic Mysticism on Prayer and the Interior Life
Discover the spiritual masterpiece that has guided seekers of God for centuries.
Written by Teresa of Ávila, Interior Castle is one of the most enduring and influential works of Catholic spirituality, offering timeless wisdom on prayer, the soul, and the path toward deeper union with God.
Recognized for centuries as a foundational text of Christian mysticism, Interior Castle has shaped the spiritual lives of countless readers--from contemplatives and spiritual directors to everyday believers seeking a richer interior life. This edition features the most widely read and accessible English translation, paired with insightful commentary by Dennis Billy, CSsR, making this classic especially approachable for modern readers.
At the heart of Interior Castle is Teresa's unforgettable image of the soul as a radiant castle with many dwelling places. Through this powerful metaphor, she gently leads readers through the stages of the interior life, offering profound spiritual and psychological insight into growth in prayer, self-knowledge, and intimacy with God. Dennis Billy's commentary brings clarity and warmth to Teresa's teaching by situating her insights in historical context and translating her mystical wisdom into practical guidance for today.
