Interactive Science, Grade 5

Interactive Science: Grade 5 editado por Pearson Education

Interactive Science is a curriculum for homeschooling that keeps you and your child engaged. Designed to make Science accessible, the program uses labs and hands-on activities to guide your child through his or her education. The Grade 5 curriculum is the next step in Interactive Science. It transitions smoothly from Grade 4 so you and your child will have no trouble adjusting to the next Grade level.

By now, your child will have a strong foundational knowledge of four areas of Science education, including Science Engineering and Technology, Life Science, Earth Science and Physical Science. The curriculum material in Interactive Science: Grade 5 is broken down into those four units. During each, your child will learn invaluable information about the topic and explore the field in a way that holds his or her interest.

Science is all about interacting with the subject being studied. Whether your child is exploring rocks or weather, you can be sure that Interactive Science: Grade 5 will help him or her do so actively.

With the helpful, dynamic and in-depth materials included in this curriculum, you'll be able to craft lessons that achieve Grade-level goals. By the time your child completes Grade 5, he or she should be able to:

• Describe matter that is too small to see (such as atoms) using models.
• Observe and describe a material using its properties.
• Explain how an animal derives energy from food, which comes from plants that get their energy from the sun.
• Describe how plants get their energy (i.e., photosynthesis).
• Understand the interactions between the Earth's geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and/or atmosphere.
• Find information regarding community efforts to protect the environment and its resources.
• Understand the basic nature of gravity and that matter falls toward the center of the Earth.
• Comprehend that the sun's brightness correlates to its distance from Earth.

You can achieve these and other goals in your child's learning by using the easy-to-understand materials included in Interactive Science: Grade 5. The student workbook is full of fun activity ideas sure to get your student thrilled about Science. You'll be able to use the teacher guide to form thought-provoking lessons.

Please note that Pearson creates educational materials for all types of learners. For that reason, when creating a program, we ensure that the material will be accessible to as many students as possible. As such, we create many ancillary products that fit specific situations and meet a variety of needs. While there are many components to each of our overall educational programs, some of these ancillaries do not meet the needs of homeschoolers, others do not make sense in a homeschool environment and some require an expensive technological infrastructure to deploy. The homeschool product configurations, while selected from a larger program, are complete curriculum bundles designed to engage your children and help them thrive while being mindful of your budget. It is important to note that at times there will be resources mentioned throughout our curriculum material descriptions that are not included in your package. However this will not hinder your child's successful completion of the course. Rather, the exclusion of certain materials will make homeschooling more budget-friendly and will ensure your curriculum meets your individual needs.

Interactive Science is a next generation K-8 science program featuring an innovative write-in student edition (grades 1-8) that makes learning personal, relevant, and engaging. Your child will get all of the content, interactivity, and practice they need between the covers of a single book. Your child will interact with science through the many labs and hands-on activities throughout the student worktext.

• Detailed lesson plans make instruction easy
• In-depth, hands-on activities throughout each lesson engage your child
• Got It checkpoints ensure your child understands the material
• Understanding By Design model leads students to a deeper understanding of science concepts

Each homeschool bundle includes a Parent Guide, Write-In Student Edition, and online Teacher s Edition eText. Student online access is not available at this time.

**Please note the Teacher s Edition eText is accessible for one full year, online only. Individual pages cannot be printed.**
